Position/Title: Azure DevOps Engineer III - 100% Remote

** NOTE: Must have prior DevOps experience in Microsoft Azure and TFS.

Location: 100% Remote (anywhere in the US)

Primary Purpose:

Responsible for Application Lifecycle Management for multiple business units. Primary duties will encompass the design and implementation of automated build and release pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps Services, supporting a .NET C# stack. Provide communication and collaboration between software development, quality assurance, business analysis, project management and infrastructure teams

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement enterprise level .NET application software release standardization including, but not limited to, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment, Orchestration and Build Automation engineering
  • Present a diversified knowledge of various products across the DevOps spectrum (Azure, Azure DevOps Services, Docker, Kubernetes, GIT, SQL Server,MongoDB)
  • Design and implement Azure DevOps Services pipelines utilizing transformations and deployment configurations for all environments
  • Work with software engineering and operational teams to ensure system designs are secure, scalable and reliable
  • Perform production and non-production build & deploy activities for application and SQL schema releases; Provide support for various technical teams, assist with troubleshooting issues
  • Assist with branching/merging efforts in support of parallel development requirements and standardization of branching methodologies
  • Collaborate with testing teams and assist with continuous delivery of builds to environment along with performance testing setup/execution
  • Liaison between application development and infrastructure teams in the establishment of needed infrastructure in all environments, subsequently supporting application deployment and configuration
  • Review deployment and operational environments, i.e., execute initiatives to reduce failure, troubleshoot issues across the entire infrastructure stack
  • Partner heavily with internal teams such as Application Development, Infrastructure, Database Administration and Quality Assurance
  • Develop an understanding of infrastructure footprint of existing ecosystem and utilize as a pattern for new solutions
  • Serve as the SME for software development lifecycle tools - tools that facilitate development, testing, monitoring, integration/release
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, patch, and upgrade software application products
  • Shepherd change control activities for application and/or infrastructure changes for respective applications
  • Monitors usage and changes configurations to improve capacity or performance of servers
  • Participate in system performance tuning and technical troubleshooting sessions
  • Serve as mentor for junior team members

Minimum Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor Degree or in-lieu of degree, equivalent education, training and work-related experience
  • 3+ years of Application Development experience
  • 4+ years of distributed continuous build and deployment experience
  • Expert working knowledge of Azure DevOps Services including, but not limited to: GIT source control, branching strategies/methodologies, Creation and implementation of continuous integration via build pipelines, Creation and implementation of continuous deployment via release pipelines, deployment groups
  • Heavy build automation experience utilizing YAML; ability to refactor application builds to use or implement use of NuGet packages.
  • Experience with all types of application configuration and deployment, including but not limited to, web applications, web services, windows services, micro services, IIS setup and configuration
  • Familiarity with building and deploying .NET Core applications
  • Expert working knowledge of all phases of software development including design, coding, testing and implementation
  • Expert working knowledge of Windows and troubleshooting in an Enterprise environment. Includes application, web, content management and FTP servers
  • Hands-on experience in working with cloud architecture and hybrid cloud solutions
  • Performs work under minimal supervision
  • Handles complex issues and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff
  • Ability to lead and work with other team members, including mentoring less experienced team members
  • Ability to work with and understand business client requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish working relationships with individuals at varying levels within the organization
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure, adhere to project deadlines and procedures, multi-task and be detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Desired Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in scripting languages - PowerShell preferred.
  • Experience working with containers utilizing Kubernetes; familiarity with Azure Service Bus, MS Application Insights
  • Excellent hands-on experience with SQL, SSMS, SSIS packages and DACPAC implementation
  • Strong knowledge of Windows server technologies (ex. IIS configurations, monitoring agents) and network configurations (ex. DNS, proxy, firewall rule exceptions)
  • Experience working with virtual machines in a VMWare environment
  • Understanding of Change Control procedures, High Availability, Business Continuity, and Disaster Recovery concepts as they relate to Distributed Systems architectures
