The Senior Windows Platform Manager will lead and participate in the development, deployment and implementation of Windows based systems, technologies and information solutions; to understand and direct others in supporting and enhancing existing systems and technologies; and to apply and teach the company's standards, procedures and technologies. The incumbent will participate as an internal consultant to the company's businesses and various customer groups.
The individual will lead a of team employees, local contractors, on-shore and off-shore contract resources who are Windows Systems Administrators. This position will design, configure, and implement the company's Windows and Microsoft platforms as well as the company's Windows environment of the future including Microsoft M365 and Azure. The successful candidate would be the Windows Subject Matter Expert for our corporate IT department. This person would not only help maintain what is currently in place but would help to set the strategic direction for this environment and tactically move the company to this new technology.
Major Activities/Key Challenges
Develop, implement, evaluate, procure, and/or support computer systems and information solutions that meet the needs of the customer and add the most value to the company. This is to be accomplished by utilizing technically sound methods of investigation, analysis, design, planning, and scheduling.
Establish and maintain a high level of customer interaction in order to identify and recommend computer and business solutions to effectively and efficiently satisfy the data processing and information requirements of the business.
Maintain a high level of security governed in concert with our office of Information Security team.
Manage advanced Tier 3 reactionary support and/or preventive maintenance processes.
Provide advice and counsel to the customers of the systems in assigned area(s) of responsibility, and to other GIS-IT personnel.
Manage the Expert Service Agreement (ESA) process in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Operate within the company's IS standards and conventions and applicable the company's Business Unit IT standards.
Identify, establish and support value-added cross-functional data and system linkages.
Ensure appropriate methodologies are followed, support processes and procedures are in place, and key system/quality indicators are measured, where appropriate.
Ensure compliance with all guidelines detailed in the company's IT Audit & Compliance Standards (with a specific focus on business partnerships, change control, disaster recovery, and security) for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Manage an on- and off-shore model that provides development and/or support solutions in the assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Conduct coaching, counseling, and annual performance reviews for employees in assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Pursue continuous learning consistent with the movement in job requirements, changes in technology, changes in the organization, and changes in the company (i.e., Business Units and Resource Units).
In addition to individual priorities, manage multiple system services or multiple larger projects including project estimates, status communications, and schedules; monitor the plans including periodic review with those managing the day-to-day activities; manage the process established for emergency system and project support; direct the day-to-day activity for the team.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or 6 years of additional experience in Information Technology accepted in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 6 years' experience in design, configuration, implementation and support of Windows hardware and software.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of Hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Familiarity with ITIL, and configuration, capacity and change management.
Sound understanding of Enterprise scale multi-site/country Windows Environments including Active Directory Microsoft Windows Server, Azure, Azure AD, AD Connect, SCCM, SCOM, M365 Exchange, Intune, ADFS, PowerShell scripting and C# / ASP.NET programing.
Understanding of architecting, understanding and implementing policy driven organizational changes with tools like Group Policy, Intune, SCCM, Azure.
Understanding of how to securely implement technologies in a global hybrid cloud environment and work within a security framework across all levels of infrastructure.
Familiar with the use of ITSM systems such as ServiceNow Service, Request, Change, CMDB and Discovery a plus.
Architecture /Interface/integration of process control domains with business domains and external facing DMZ environments.
Experience implementing and/or managing M365 and Azure environments.
Human relation skills and be able to interact with internal and external customers, other analysts, and GIS management.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Provide work direction to larger teams and manage large projects.
Strong understanding and commitment to Project Management Methodology.
Broad knowledge and understanding of server HW/SW technologies.
Familiarity with the following technologies would be a plus: VMware, Enterprise Storage, SAN, Oracle databases, SQL databases and LAN/WAN networking.
